Cardinals' Sem Robberse: Needs Tommy John surgery
Robberse is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Robberse missed time during the second half of last season with an elbow injury and recent imaging showed that he needs to have the elbow surgically repaired. Given the timing of the procedure, he will likely be sidelined until around midseason next year. Robberse holds a 4.96 ERA and 139:59 K:BB over 134.1 innings at the Triple-A level.

Cardinals' Sem Robberse: Lifted from IL
Robberse (elbow) was activated from Triple-A Memphis' 7-day injured list Wednesday.
Robberse made three rehab starts at Single-A Palm Beach, allowing two runs (one earned) on nine hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings. The Cardinals will likely stay cautious with the right-hander to close out the campaign, but he should be able to get at least two or three more appearances with Memphis before the end of the season.

Cardinals' Sem Robberse: Optioned to Triple-A
The Cardinals optioned Robberse to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Robberse posted a 4.28 ERA across 124 innings between Double-A and Triple-A last season, but he surrendered six runs in just 4.2 innings during spring training. The 22-year-old right-hander will need to display more consistent success in the minors, but St. Louis' relatively weak pitching staff keeps open the possibility of a major-league debut for Robberse in 2024.

Cardinals' Sem Robberse: Packaged to St. Louis
The Cardinals acquired Robberse and right-hander Adam Kloffenstein from the Blue Jays on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Jordan Hicks, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
The 21-year-old right-hander will add to St. Louis' organizational starting pitching depth and is likely to settle at Double-A Springfield after he had spent the entire 2023 campaign with the Blue Jays' Double-A affiliate in New Hampshire. Robberse gets by mostly on command rather than premium velocity and has struck out more than a batter per inning in only one of his six stops in the minors. Over 88.2 frames with New Hampshire this season, Robberse posted a 4.06 ERA and 14.2 K-BB%.
