  Schwellenbach (5-4) earned the win against the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks with nine strikeouts over nine innings. Schwellenbach allowed runs in the second and eighth innings but still went the distance for his first career complete game. He was highly efficient, throwing 76 of 105 pitches for strikes while generating 15 whiffs. The 25-year-old has now worked at least six frames in seven straight outings, six of which have been quality starts. He'll carry a 3.11 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 84:14 K:BB across 89.2 innings into a home matchup with the Mets next week.

• Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Middling performance Friday

  Schwellenbach allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Friday. This was a bit of a letdown after back-to-back 11-strikeout games from the 25-year-old right-hander. Schwellenbach still earned his third straight quality start, but two of those have just met that standard due to some mistakes from Atlanta's defense. He's also completed six innings in all but two of his 13 starts so far as he remains a reliable part of the rotation. Schwellenbach has a 3.24 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 75:14 K:BB over 80.2 innings. His next start is projected to be at Milwaukee.

  Schwellenbach (3-4) took the loss Sunday against San Diego. He pitched seven innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts. After conceding a run in the first on a Jackson Merrill single, Schwellenbach breezed through the Padres' lineup until two unearned runs scored on a Gavin Sheets long ball in the sixth. Schwellenbach generated an astounding 20 whiffs on 101 total pitches to notch his first performance with double-digit Ks since April 4 against Miami. The Atlanta right-hander has pitched to a 3.42 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 60:12 K:BB across 68.1 total innings. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Red Sox at home next weekend.

  Schwellenbach (2-3) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings in a 5-2 victory over the Nationals. He struck out three. He served up a leadoff homer to CJ Abrams and gave up another run before Atlanta's offense woke up in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Schwellenbach ended up cruising to a fairly comfortable win. The 24-year-old righty has produced seven quality starts in nine trips to the mound this season, and he'll take a 3.31 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 46:11 K:BB through 54.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Boston.

  Schwellenbach (1-3) took the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 3.2 innings. Schwellenbach began his outing with a scoreless first frame, but he struggled mightily after that. The right-hander gave up a run in the second and two more in the third before Los Angeles blitzed him for three two-out runs (one of which scored after he departed) in the fourth. It was the second time this season Schwellenbach has yielded six runs in an appearance, though he's notched a quality start in each of his other five outings. He'll carry a 3.92 ERA into his next trip to the mound, which is slated to be a home matchup against Cincinnati next week.

Schwellenbach allowed just one run through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. Schwellenbach was off to a brilliant start before Tuesday with a 0.45 ERA and 0.65 WHIP through his first three outings.   Schwellenbach didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Philadelphia after giving up one run on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five. Schwellenbach yielded two extra-base hits, one of which left the yard off the red-hot bat of Kyle Schwarber in the third inning, and he notably escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning by fanning Nick Castellanos. The right-hander's night then ended after rain delayed the start of the seventh inning by nearly three hours. The long ball represented Schwellenbach's first run allowed in 2025, and he carries a pristine 0.45 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB over 20 innings (three starts) to open the season following his 2024 second-half surge. He'll do battle with the Blue Jays on the road in his next scheduled start, which is set for early next week.

The right-hander built up to 78 pitches (57 strikes) in a dominant outing against a Yankees lineup that featured Aaron Judge, Austin Wells and a bunch of bench players and minor leaguers. The level of competition doesn't take away from Schwellenbach's performance though, as he didn't even allow a runner to reach second base. With Opening Day on the horizon, Schwellenbach seems more than ready, having posted a 2.41 ERA and eye-popping 26:2 K:BB through 18.2 Grapefruit League innings.

Over 12.2 Grapefruit League innings, he's delivered a 16:1 K:BB and appears just about ready for Opening Day.

  Schwellenbach came away with a no-decision in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Mets, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter. The rookie right-hander was sharp once again, firing 68 of 94 pitches for strikes in his 12th quality start of the season and leaving the mound in line for a playoff-clinching victory. Atlanta's bullpen unraveled however, coughing up eight runs in the final two frames to cost Schwellenbach his ninth win. He wraps up an impressive first regular season in the majors with a 3.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 127:23 K:BB through 123.2 innings, but Atlanta -- which won the nightcap to get into the postseason -- will likely need to advance past the Wild Card Round for Schwellenbach to pitch again in 2024.

The rookie right-hander took a shutout into the seventh inning before serving up a solo shot to Mark Vientos, and Schwellenbach left the mound after 87 pitches (62 strikes). He has been huge for Atlanta down the stretch as the team tries to earn a playoff berth -- he's given up three runs or fewer in 11 straight outings, posting a 2.59 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 73:13 K:BB through 66 innings over that stretch, and Tuesday's quality start was his third straight and his 11th of the year. He's tentatively scheduled to work the final game of the regular season at home Sunday against the Royals, with a potential wild-card spot on the line.

With this 92-pitch outing, Schwellenbach collected his ninth quality start of the season, and he's made nine consecutive starts without allowing more than three runs. Over that stretch, the Atlanta right-hander has been a fantasy stalwart, pitching to a 2.89 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 64:10 K:BB across 53 innings. He is scheduled to make his next start at Cincinnati next week.

The bullpen then let Minnesota back into the game late in the later innings. Schwellenbach has allowed three runs or less in all five of his August trips to the mound, posting a 3.07 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and dazzling 42:8 K:BB through 29.1 innings on the month. He faces a tough test in his next start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Philadelphia.

Schwellenbach allowed two of the first three batters to reach in the opening frame, ultimately resulting in a run coming home for Philadelphia. However, the right-hander proceeded to go 1-2-3 through each of the next five innings, striking out eight batters over that stretch before surrendering another run in the seventh. Schwellenbach induced 20 whiffs in the contest and has now recorded at least seven strikeouts in six consecutive starts. It also marked the first win this month for the 24-year-old, though he's now given up three or fewer runs in five straight outings.

Schwellenbach was initially expected to be skipped for this start, but Atlanta changed plans to keep him on turn this time. He rewarded that faith with his fifth quality start in his last six outings, but Atlanta's bullpen imploded in the eighth inning to cost him the win. Schwellenbach is now at a 3.95 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 77:12 K:BB through 70.2 innings over 12 starts in the majors. The 24-year-old is at a total of 115.2 innings across all levels this year after throwing just 65 innings in 2023, so it's still possible his workload gets trimmed back at some point. Consider him tentatively penciled in to make his next start on the road versus the Angels.

Atlanta had previously announced that Schwellenbach's next turn in the rotation would be skipped as a means to reduce his workload. However, Atlanta has reversed course and will give the ball to the rookie Sunday after all. It's still possible Schwellenbach will have a turn skipped and/or get pushed back in the pitching schedule at a later date since he's already far exceeded his 2023 workload.

  Schwellenbach did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-3 win versus Miami, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks over seven innings. He struck out 10. After punching out a career-high 11 in his last start, the Atlanta rookie generated an impressive 17 whiffs en route to his 10 punchouts in this 94-pitch outing. After allowing a two-run homer to Jonah Bride in the first inning, the only other blemish on Schwellenbach's performance was a 416-foot solo shot given up to Jake Burger in the third. The right-hander has been splendid post-All-Star break, firing 20 innings with a 3.15 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 29:0 K:BB. Schwellenbach is currently slated to face the Brewers at home in his next start.
