  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Getting afternoon off

Norby is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Norby will take a seat for the first time since he was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Aug. 19 in advance of his Marlins debut. Jose Devers will enter the lineup and pick up a start at second base in place of the resting Norby, who has produced a 1.002 OPS with two stolen bases and three home runs through his first 12 games with Miami.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Scores three times in win

Norby went 2-for-4 with two walks, three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Rockies.

The 24-year-old fueled a 12-run outburst from the Miami offense with another impressive performance from the leadoff spot. Norby extended his hitting streak in the majors to 11 games, with 10 of them coming since he joined the Marlins' roster in mid-August. Over those 10 contests, he's slashing .350/.422/.650 with six doubles, two homers, two steals, four RBI and 13 runs.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Homer among three hits in win

Norby went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Cubs.

Norby has hit the ground running with the Marlins, going 9-for-24 (.375) over his first six games with the team. He's homered in back-to-back contests, giving him four long balls on the year. The infielder has added six RBI, 10 runs scored, one stolen base and a .268 batting average through 15 games between Miami and Baltimore this year. Norby is seeing steady playing time at third base, though he's likely to drop back into the bottom half of the order once Xavier Edwards (back) returns -- Norby has hit leadoff in both games Edwards has sat out.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Hits first homer with Marlins

Norby went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two strikeouts in Saturday's 14-2 loss to the Cubs.

Norby took Shota Imanaga deep to center field for his third long ball this season and first as a member of the Marlins. Norby has started the Marlins' last five games and picked up a hit in each game, with four going for extra bases. The rookie was acquired from the Orioles, and with Xavier Edwards nursing a back injury, Norby could be seeing plenty of time down the stretch.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Bangs out two doubles

Norby went 2-for-4 with two doubles in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Making his second start for the Marlins, Norby collected his first extra-base hits with his new club. The 24-year-old batted fifth while playing third base, and with Otto Lopez getting a long look at second base, the hot corner figures to be Norby's main home for the rest of the season. Before the trade that sent him south from Baltimore, he had gone just 6-for-32 (.188) with the O's this season but compiled a .300/.392/.522 slash line in 80 games at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Collects hit in team debut

Norby went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He was also caught stealing.

Called up from Triple-A Jacksonville earlier in the day and making his Marlins debut as the club's starting third baseman, Norby brought home a run with a fielder's choice in the sixth inning before coming around to score on a Kyle Stowers single. Norby had been slashing .271/.338/.373 with one home run in 14 games for Triple-A Jacksonville since the late-July trade that brought him over from Baltimore, and he'll get a chance to lock down an everyday role for Miami over the final weeks of 2024.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Called up by Miami

The Marlins recalled Norby from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Norby was surprisingly sent to Jacksonville after the Marlins acquired him at the trade deadline from the Orioles, but he's now joined the big club and should be set for an everyday role. The 24-year-old had mostly played third base at Jacksonville of late and that's likely where he'll see the bulk of his starts with the Marlins for now, although he's capable of handling second base and the corner outfield spots, as well.

  • Marlins' Connor Norby: Likely returning to majors

The Marlins are expected to recall Norby from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Norby was acquired by the Marlins at the trade deadline and has since slashed .263/.300/.368 with Triple-A Jacksonville across 13 games. Though he's seen the majority of his starts at second base during his time in the minors this season and during his brief stint with the Orioles earlier in 2024, Norby has made his last three starts with Jacksonville at third base. He could step in as the everyday option at the hot corner, which would allow fellow rookie Otto Lopez to continue getting regular playing time at second base.
