Moniak has started seven straight games, six of which have come in center field in the absence of Brenton Doyle (hip). He's performed decently in that span despite six of the games being on the road, as he's collected five hits across 23 at-bats with five runs scored and two extra-base knocks. Doyle appeared as a pinch hitter Wednesday, so Moniak could lose some playing time in the coming days depending on how the Rockies opt to split time between him and Nick Martini.

Moniak signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Rockies on Wednesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Moniak was cut by the Angels on Tuesday but didn't have to wait long to sign with another club on a major-league deal. The 26-year-old outfielder slashed .219/.266/.380 across 418 plate appearances with the Halos last season but has a good chance to see those numbers increase in 2025 now that he gets to play his home games at Coors Field. With Brenton Doyle locked in as Colorado's center fielder, the team may look to use Moniak more often in the corner outfield spots, and his left-handed bat could grant him a strong-side platoon role following the departure of Nolan Jones.

Mickey Moniak: Cut loose by Halos
The Angels are expected to release Moniak on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
With the Angels having seemingly committed to Jo Adell as their everyday center fielder, the left-handed-hitting Moniak wouldn't have been in store for many at-bats off the bench and didn't profile as a platoon option, so the organization is opting to cut ties with the 26-year-old. Rather than designating Moniak for assignment and potentially working out a trade, the Angels will release him in order to save around $1.5 million on the $2 million salary he won in arbitration earlier in the offseason. Given his relative youth and pedigree as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Moniak shouldn't have much trouble finding work elsewhere, though he may have to settle for a minor-league deal with Opening Day quickly approaching.

Angels' Mickey Moniak: Will get look in center field
Moniak will be in the mix for starts in center field following the Angels' decision to shift Mike Trout (knee) to right field, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
With Trout injured, Moniak led the Angels with 91 starts in center field last season. Jo Adell -- who started four contests in center field in 2024 -- will be Moniak's chief competition for playing time. While Moniak would likely offer the Angels a steadier glove in center field, the Halos might lean toward Adell if they feel he still has some untapped offensive potential.

Angels' Mickey Moniak: Wins arbitration case
Moniak will be paid $2 million in 2025 after winning his arbitration case against the Angels, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The Angels had filed at $1.5 million when figures were exchanged earlier this month. Moniak slashed only .219/.266/.380 in 124 games with the Angels last season and will likely serve as their fourth outfielder in 2025.
