  • Twins' Willi Castro: Three hits in Wednesday's win

Castro went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Marlins. He was also caught stealing, but it was still a productive night for the super-utility player, who was getting the start at second base and batting third. It was Castro's first multi-hit performance since June 15, as he was bothered by a sore wrist in late June, but he's made up for a lack of punch at the plate by getting busier on the basepaths -- half of his six steals on the season have come in the last five games.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Making return to lineup

Castro (wrist) will start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Mariners. A sore right wrist had kept Castro out of the lineup for each of the previous three games, but he felt well enough to appear off the bench in Tuesday's 6-5 loss. He checked out fine after going 0-for-2 while playing three innings at second base Tuesday and will now pick up his first start since Saturday. He'll occupy third base in place of a resting Brooks Lee on Wednesday, but Castro could end up seeing most of his playing time at the keystone or in the corner outfield moving forward.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Appears as pinch hitter

Castro (wrist) went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and played three innings at second base in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Mariners. Castro entered the game in the sixth inning as a pinch hitter in place of Kody Clemens in what was the former's first appearance since Saturday. Assuming Castro's right wrist didn't provide any complications in his cameo off the bench, he could re-enter the starting nine Wednesday.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Sitting again Tuesday

Castro (wrist) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners. The veteran super-utility man hasn't seen the field since Saturday due to the wrist injury, which is an issue he initially played through before exiting the lineup. Castro had X-rays come back negative Sunday, though he'll still sit for a third consecutive game Tuesday. Kody Clemens is starting at second base while Harrison Bader handles left field for Minnesota.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Set to miss at least one more game

Castro expects to miss at least one or two more games with a sore right wrist, though an X-ray conducted Sunday came back negative, MLB.com reports. Castro has dealt with pain in the wrist since Thursday, but it wasn't until Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Brewers that he was forced to miss a game. The super-utility player looks set to remain out of the lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Mariners, and he'll be at risk of landing on the injured list if he doesn't show meaningful improvement within the next few days.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Out Sunday with sore wrist

The Twins scratched Castro from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers due to right wrist soreness, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports. Castro had initially been slated to start in left field and bat third, but DaShawn Keirsey will end up replacing him in the lineup. Though Castro is a switch hitter, the injury is to his throwing hand, so he may have been compromised in the field had the Twins elected to keep him in the lineup. The super-utility player can be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus the Mariners.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Collects three hits in loss

Castro went 3-for-4 with a double during Sunday's 2-1 loss to Houston in 10 innings. Castro extended his hit streak to eight games Sunday, delivering his fourth multi-hit performance during that stretch. The utility player has been on a tear lately, going 25-for-61 (.409) with five home runs, 12 runs scored and 10 RBI over his last 17 games. He owns a .290/.365/.483 slash line on the year.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Stays hot in Friday's loss

Castro went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Astros. All three Twins runs came on solo shots, with Castro getting his team on the board by taking Colton Gordon deep in the fourth inning. Castro has been on fire since the end of May, slashing .408/.491/.796 over his last 14 games with five homers, 10 RBI and 12 runs, and with Royce Lewis (hamstring) suffering another injury Friday, the 28-year-old utility player will have a little less competition for playing time in the immediate future.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Resting Friday

Castro isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto. Castro will get a chance to rest Friday after going 5-for-15 with two homers during the Twins' previous series against the Athletics. Kody Clemens will start at second base in his absence, and Harrison Bader, Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner will patrol the outfield.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Three hits, steal in loss

Castro went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Mariners. This was Castro's second multi-hit effort in a row, though all three knocks Saturday stayed in the park after his two-homer game Friday. The 28-year-old has lifted his batting average to .254 with his recent surge at the plate, and he's added a .759 OPS, four homers, 10 RBI, 21 runs scored and three stolen bases over 37 games. He's not running nearly as much as he did in the previous two years, though his positional versatility can still carry value in fantasy. For now, Castro is poised to get most of his playing time at second base while the Twins are largely healthy among their position players.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Getting breather Wednesday

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays. After making seven consecutive starts, Castro is on the bench for Wednesday's series finale. Brooks Lee will slot in at second base while Trevor Larnach, DaShawn Keirsey and Kody Clemens fill the outfield from left to right.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Back in lineup Monday

Castro (knee) is starting at second base and batting ninth against the Guardians on Monday. Castro will return to the Twins' lineup for Monday's series opener after missing the last two games due to a right knee contusion. He has gone 8-for-32 (.250) with one steal, eight runs scored and a solo homer in the 10 games since being activated from the 10-day injured list May 5.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Sitting again Sunday

Castro (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Milwaukee. It's the second straight game on the bench for Castro after he fouled a ball off his knee during Friday's contest. The utility man was diagnosed with a bruise and is considered day-to-day. Kody Clemens is manning the keystone Sunday while Brooks Lee starts at shortstop in place of Carlos Correa (concussion).

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Out of lineup Saturday

Castro (knee) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game versus Milwaukee. Castro was pulled early from Friday's game against the Brewers after fouling a ball off his knee in the first inning. Though he was able to finish his at-bat, the utility man was replaced in the field for the following frame and will now be held out of the lineup for at least one game. Castro had started in left field Friday with Harrison Bader out of action while battling a groin injury, but Bader is back starting in left Saturday.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Exits with bruised knee

Castro was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers with a right knee contusion, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Castro fouled a ball off his knee during his at-bat in the first inning of Friday's contest. He was able to finish his AB but was eventually replaced in the field during the second frame. The fact he remained in the game immediately after the incident could indicate his injury isn't too serious, but he may sit out another game or two to properly recover.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Expected to return early this week

Castro (oblique) isn't likely to need a minor-league rehab assignment and is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. If he's fully healthy the utility player should immediately reclaim a regular starting role with the Twins struggling to find production at multiple lineup spots. Castro originally suffered the right oblique strain April 16, but he's since resumed baseball activities and has been taking batting practice without issue.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Resumes baseball activities

Castro (oblique) worked out Monday and could be activated from the injured list when eligible Thursday, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Castro will hit from the left side, which was hindered by his oblique injury, on Tuesday. If all goes well the Twins will then figure out his next course of action but it sounds like he may not need to go on a rehab assignment. He originally strained his right oblique on April 16.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Lands on 10-day IL

The Twins placed Castro on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right oblique strain. Castro hasn't played in more than a week and the Twins have finally relented and placed the super-utility player on the IL. According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, the switch-hitting Castro has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain. While Castro can hit pain-free from the right side, he isn't able to swing left-handed without feeling tightness. He's eligible for activation May 1, and he sounds like he'll have a shot to return at that time.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Remains out Wednesday

Castro (oblique) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox. Castro hasn't played in a week due to a right oblique injury, although indications are that he will not require a trip to the 10-day injured list. Luke Keaschall will start at second base and Brooks Lee will cover third base for the Twins.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Takes indoor batting practice

Castro (oblique) took indoor batting practice prior to Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. Castro admitted Tuesday that he doesn't feel 100 percent while he works through a right oblique injury, but he and Twins manager Rocco Baldelli are confident Castro can avoid a stint on the injured list. The oblique flares up when the switch hitter bats left-handed, so it's possible he returns only to hit right-handed initially.
