  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Secures two-inning save

Diaz walked one and struck out one over two scoreless and hitless innings to earn the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Royals. It's just the fourth time all season Diaz has been asked to go more than one inning, but he was fresh Sunday, as his last appearance was Tuesday. Diaz got the job done with 13 pitches in the eighth inning and a tidy nine-pitch ninth to secure his 19th save in 20 chances. He's added a stellar 1.66 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 55:13 K:BB through 38 innings this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Nabs win Tuesday

Diaz (4-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning victory over the Orioles, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning. The Mets closer kept the game knotted at 6-6 on 10 pitches (five strikes), with Huascar Brazoban getting the call in the 10th for the save. Diaz has returned to elite form in 2025, allowing just one earned run since April 23 and posting a 0.34 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 39:6 K:BB in 26.1 innings over that stretch, and on the season he's blown only one save with 18 successful conversions.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Picks up 18th save

Diaz earned the save in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Brewers, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning. Diaz picked up his second save in as many days while extending his scoreless streak to 8.2 innings -- he's allowed five hits while striking out 12 in that span. Diaz has converted 18 of 19 save chances this season while posting a sparkling 1.85 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 51:12 K:BB across 34 innings.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Locks down four-out save

Diaz earned the save in a 7-3 win over the Brewers in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader, striking out three across 1.1 perfect innings. Diaz was called upon in the eighth inning after the Brewers got the tying run to the plate with two outs. He'd strike out Jake Bauers to retire the side before setting Milwaukee down in order in the ninth, securing his 16th save in 17 chances this year. Diaz has turned in eight straight scoreless appearances (7.2 innings), allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out 10 in that span. His ERA is down to 1.91 with a 0.91 WHIP and 49 strikeouts across 33 innings this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Escapes with 15th save

Diaz earned the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Nationals, allowing a walk and a hit in a scoreless inning. After Ryne Stanek allowed three straight hits to lead off the ninth, the Mets turned to Diaz to protect a 4-1 lead with the tying run at the plate. Diaz was shaky initially, walking Nathaniel Lowe to load the bases before allowing a base hit to Josh Bell that cut the lead to 4-2. The Nats would scratch across one more run on a wild pitch before Diaz induced a pair of groundouts to strand the tying run on third base. The 31-year-old improves to 15-for-16 in save chances this year. He's allowed just one earned run in his last 18.2 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.22 with a 0.95 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB across 28.1 innings this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Collects 14th save

Diaz earned the save against the Rockies on Friday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning. Diaz was brought in for the save opportunity after Francisco Lindor (toe) gave the Mets a two-run lead in the ninth. Diaz needed 13 pitches to get through the first two batters but just two to get Kyle Farmer to line out and secure the win. Diaz has converted 14 of 15 save opportunities this season and has a 2.39 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB across 26.1 innings.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Blows first save of season

Diaz (3-0) blew a save but earned the win over the Dodgers on Monday, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two batters over one inning. Diaz came into Monday 13-for-13 in save opportunities on the season, but he wasn't able to hold a 2-1 Mets lead in the ninth inning. The right-hander gave up the tying run on a Shohei Ohtani sacrifice fly after two of the first three batters he faced reached base on singles, though Diaz was able to strike out Teoscar Hernandez with the winning run on second base. The closer then earned the victory as a result of the Mets scoring twice in the 10th inning. The run allowed by Diaz was the first earned run charged to him over his past 14 outings, and he still holds an excellent 2.49 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 39:11 K:BB through 25.1 innings this season.

Diaz earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over Colorado, striking out all three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning. Diaz was brought in to protect the Mets' two-run lead. He made quick work of the Rockies batters, causing all three he faced to strike out swinging. Diaz has converted all 12 of his save opportunities this season and has not yielded an earned run since April 21 against the Phillies. He has a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB across 23.1 innings this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Collects win Monday

Diaz (2-0) picked up the win Monday over the White Sox, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. The Mets' closer worked the top of the ninth with the score tied 1-1 and a save chance off the table, and he was rewarded when Francisco Lindor lofted a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame. It was Diaz's 12th straight appearance without allowing an earned run, a stretch in which he's collected a win and five saves with a 16:5 K:BB in 12.2 innings. The month-long hot streak has shaved his ratios on the season down to a 2.42 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, numbers right in line with Diaz's career performance.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Strikes out three for 11th save

Diaz earned a save against the Dodgers on Saturday, striking out three batters in 1.1 perfect innings. Diaz entered in the eighth inning with a runner on first base and New York holding a 4-2 lead. He struck out Mookie Betts to end the threat, then fanned both Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman en route to retiring the side in order in the ninth to close out the contest. Diaz extended his stretch of appearances without allowing an earned run to 11, and during that span he's posted a 15:4 K:BB across 11.1 frames while picking up four saves. The veteran right-hander is a perfect 11-for-11 in save opportunities on the campaign, once again cementing himself as one of MLB's best closers.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Perfect in save No. 10

Diaz struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 10th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Yankees. The veteran right-hander's adrenaline was pumping, and Diaz topped out at 100 mph on a fastball before fanning Aaron Judge with a 98.6 mph heater to end the game. That's a big step up from the career-low 96.6 mph Diaz has been averaging with the pitch this season, and it's an encouraging sign as he produced his eighth straight appearance without allowing an earned run. The 31-year-old sports a 3.00 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB through 18 innings, and he's a perfect 10-for-10 in converting save chances.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Escapes with ninth save

Diaz walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his ninth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Pirates. The final frame was more nervous than it appears from a glance at Diaz's line, as a Francisco Lindor error and stolen bases by Adam Frazier and Isiah Kiner-Falefa put runners on second and third with one out. The Mets closer was able to buckle down though, fanning Bryan Reynolds before getting Joey Bart to ground out to second base. Diaz has yet to blow a save this season despite some bumpy appearances and a career-low 96.6 mph average fastball, posting a 3.18 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB through 17 innings.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Clean inning for eighth save

Diaz struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Monday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks. This was Diaz's first save since April 26 versus the Nationals. He battled a hip issue in that time, and his return to the mound Sunday versus the Cardinals saw him allow two hits and strike out one in a scoreless inning in a non-save situation. He should be good to resume closing duties, though after pitching consecutive days, he may not be available if a save situation arises Tuesday. Diaz has a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB with eight saves over 14 innings this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Doesn't pitch Sunday

Diaz (hip) was not used in a save situation Sunday, and the Mets and Ryne Stanek blew the save in his absence. Diaz did pitch Saturday and converted the save while throwing 22 pitches, but they didn't turn to him to cap off the series against the Cats. It's unclear whether he has aggravated his previous hip injury or if the Mets were just being cautious with Diaz.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Plays catch with no issues

Diaz (hip) was able to play catch before Friday's game without any issues, but Mets manager Carlos Mendoza still elected not to use him in a save situation that night due to his recent workload, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Ryne Stanek instead got a chance to protect a 4-3 lead against the Nationals in the ninth inning, but he served up a leadoff triple to Dylan Crews and an RBI single to Jose Tena to blow the save. Diaz had pitched five times in nine days heading into Friday, allowing just a solo homer in 5.1 innings with a 10:2 K:BB, so some extra rest was warranted after he developed cramping in his left hip Wednesday. He should be available to handle any save situation that arises Saturday.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Injury classified as cramp

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Phillies that Diaz left the game with a left hip cramp, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. "We'll see what we got," Mendoza said, in reference to Diaz's injury. After retiring the side in the top of the ninth inning to preserve a 2-2 tie, Diaz came back out for the top of the 10th. He struck out Kyle Schwarber and then surrendered an RBI single to Nick Castellanos before summoning training staff to the mound. The Mets quickly removed Diaz from the contest, but Mendoza seemed to downplay the injury when speaking to the media shortly after the game concluded. That said, Diaz could be sent in for precautionary tests to determine if he's dealing with anything more serious than cramping, so fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on his status heading into the four-game series in Washington that begins Friday.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Exits with possible hip injury

Diaz was removed from Wednesday's appearance against the Phillies in the 10th inning due to a possible hip injury, SNY.tv reports. Diaz was working a second inning and stepped off the rubber before calling for a trainer. He appeared to be pointing to his left hip and then walked off the field without any assistance. Diaz was charged with one unearned run in 1.1 frames before departing. The Mets should offer an update on the closer's condition soon.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Escapes with save

Diaz allowed a run on one hit in one inning during Monday's win over Philadelphia. He struck out two and earned a save. While Diaz was charged with only one run, he served up a three-run blast to Bryson Stott after inheriting two runners from Max Kranick. It was the first home run allowed by Diaz since April 9 and snapped a three-inning scoreless streak. Despite his 5.59 ERA, he's converted each of his six save chances this season.

  • Mets' Edwin Diaz: Fans two to collect save

Diaz earned the save after striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to close out Saturday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals. He did not issue a walk. Diaz needed 19 pitches (12 strikes) to get through the ninth inning, but he struck out the first two batters he faced before forcing a Yohel Pozo groundout to end the game. Diaz has converted on all five of his save opportunities this season and has struck out six batters without allowing a run over his last three innings of work.
