Scottie Scheffler enters the 2025 U.S. Open as the No. 1-ranked player in the world. He has won three of his last four starts, which includes a victory at the PGA Championship, and has finished eighth or better in his past seven tournaments. According to the latest 2025 U.S. Open odds, Scheffler is the +280 favorite, the shortest odds to win any major since Tiger Woods in 2009. If that price is simply too steep for an outright winner, it's time to look at 2025 U.S. Open longshots, and this year there are plenty of intriguing 2025 U.S. Open sleepers at 40-1 or higher.

One of the biggest names in that category is Brooks Koepka (50-1), a two-time U.S. Open champion. Justin Thomas (40-1)

The 32-year-old Thomas is a two-time major winner, most recently taking the 2022 PGA Championship, and he secured his 16th career PGA Tour victory this year after winning the RBC Heritage on April 20. Thomas snapped a winless funk, going nearly three full years without a victory with his RBC Heritage win being his first title since the PGA Championship. But Thomas has returned to the form of a former No. 1 player in the world with his play this year, which has him fourth in the FedEx Cup standings.

Thomas has won or finished second in three of his last six tournaments, with his putter being largely to thank for finishing toward the top of leaderboards. After finishing 46th in putting average last year, he has the best putting average on the PGA Tour so far this year. He's third in putts per round (30th last year), sixth in one-putt percentage (50th last year) and second in birdie average (32nd last year). This version of Thomas should not be priced at 40-1 odds, according to the model's projections, making him a top longshot to utilize in 2025 U.S. Open bets.

Patrick Cantlay (42-1)

Cantlay has yet to win a major, but he's proven he can compete with the best golfers on the PGA Tour. He's racked up eight career victories and has recorded three top-10 finishes in 2025. Cantlay's also been playing well in recent weeks, finishing T-13 or better in three of his last four starts.

The 33-year-old has been able to secure those positive results thanks to his impeccable iron play. Cantlay enters the 2025 U.S. Open ranked third in greens in regulation percentage (70.53%) and 10th in strokes gained: approach to green (0.628), which will be paramount given the tough conditions players will face at Oakmont. The 33-year-old English golfer is looking for his first major win. He has at least one top-10 in all four major events, however. He finished T6 at the 2018 U.S. Open, marking his second-highest major finish. He also logged consecutive top-15s at the Masters, so there's plenty of evidence that he can be among the 2025 U.S. Open contenders.

Hatton also has three professional victories since last October, including a victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January on the European Tour.
