The second major of the 2025 golf season is near its conclusion with Scottie Scheffler firmly out in front seeking his first Wanamaker Trophy. The 2025 PGA Championship warps Sunday with some notable names having missed the cut and not only the heaviest trophy in the sport but one of the biggest winner shares from the PGA Championship's $19 million purse and prize money pool on the line.

Rory McIlroy was not chief among that group. Making the weekend right on the number, the 2025 Masters champion struggled to contend at a course he dominated throughout his career. Scheffler, meanwhile, is playing his first-ever stroke play event at Quail Hollow and leading the field by a significant margin entering the closing stretch.

Scheffler has converted five straight 54-hole leads into victories on the PGA Tour, and he's 9 of 15 when facing such opportunities in his career, going 2 for 2 at major championships. The second leg of the career grand slam is on the line for Scottie, and he hit Charlotte on Sunday with an opportunity to achieve that additional feather in his cap.
