  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Could be out longer than 10 days

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said it's possible Seager (hamstring) will require longer than a minimum stay on the 10-day injured list, MLB.com reports. Seager missed just 10 days of action the first time he strained his right hamstring, but the Rangers figure to be more cautious this time around after he aggravated the injury and had to go back on the IL this week. The shortstop is eligible for activation May 21 during the second game of a six-game road trip, but a return sometime during the Rangers' May 26 to June 1 homestand seems likelier for Seager.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Placed on IL

Seager (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. This will be Seager's second IL stint of the season with a right hamstring strain. The last time he missed under two weeks. Josh Smith (back) and Ezequiel Duran should fill in at shortstop. Kyle Higashioka was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Likely headed back to injured list

Seager (hamstring) is likely to be placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Seager wasn't deactivated Monday when the Rangers recalled first baseman Jake Burger from Triple-A Round Rock. However, the Rangers are expected to just wait to place Seager on the IL until Tuesday, when catcher Kyle Higashioka (intercostal) is likely to be activated from the IL. Seager previously landed on the IL on April 23 due to a right hamstring strain, then played in just five games after being activated May 2 before aggravating the injury.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Held out again Monday

Seager (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies. It marks the fourth time across the last five contests that Seager has been out of the lineup due to a right hamstring issue. Seager spent time on injured list in late April and early May with an injury to the same hamstring. The Rangers are considering him day-to-day for the time being. Ezequiel Duran is at shortstop and batting ninth for the Rangers on Monday.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Aggravates hamstring injury

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Seager is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Detroit after his right hamstring tightened up on a swing Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. The shortstop had missed two straight games due to an injury to the same hamstring before returning to the lineup Saturday. Seager came up big in his return with two home runs and a double over four at-bats, but Ezequiel Duran came off the bench to replace him late in the contest. Seager is set to be evaluated Monday when the Rangers return home, but his availability for the start of a series versus the Rockies would seem to be in peril.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Taking seat Sunday

Seager is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. Seager missed two straight games due to a right hamstring injury before returning to action in impressive fashion Saturday, when he went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and an additional run to help lead the Rangers to a 10-3 victory. The Rangers haven't indicated that Seager experienced any setbacks with his hamstring coming out of Saturday's contest, so his absence Sunday could be a pre-planned maintenance day.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Homers twice in win

Seager went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 10-3 win over the Tigers. Seager sat out two straight contests but returned with a bang Saturday, notching his second two-homer game of the season. The shortstop has hit safely in each of his five games since returning from the injured list May 3, going 8-for-23 with four extra-base hits, six RBI and seven runs scored in that span. On the season, he's slashing .300/.346/.520 with six long balls, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored across 107 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Returns to lineup

Seager is hitting third and playing shortstop Saturday against the Tigers. Seager sat two consecutive days -- the latter against lefty Tarik Skubal -- to rest a right hamstring injury. He'll return to the lineup Saturday, and it's a positive sign that he'll man shortstop rather than serve as the designated hitter.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Dealing with hamstring injury

Seager was not in Friday's lineup to rest his injured right hamstring, Steve Kornacki of MLB.com reports. Seager was held out of games Thursday and Friday without a reason given. It's unclear if Seager aggravated his previous hamstring injury, or if the Rangers are being extra cautious with the shortstop, who was activated off the injured list a week ago. Josh Smith filled in at shortstop while Seager rested his hamstring.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Out of lineup again Friday

Seager is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit. Seager getting a day off when the Tigers send lefty Tarik Skubal to the bump isn't necessarily unexpected. However, Seager didn't start Thursday's game in Boston, either, so he might be dealing with some sort of physical issue. Josh Smith is at shortstop and hitting seventh Friday.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Returns to shortstop

Seager started at shortstop and went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over Seattle. Seager, who served as the designated hitter Saturday when he was activated off the injured list, was back home at shortstop Sunday. The Rangers have been in an offensive funk and desperately need Seager's bat in the lineup. The shortstop ranks third on the club with a .291 batting average.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Serves as DH

Seager started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners. Seager, who was activated off the 10-day injured list earlier in the day, was given a soft landing as the DH in his return from a hamstring injury. In time, Seager will resume his role as the everyday shortstop.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Aiming for Saturday activation

Seager (hamstring) took live batting practice Thursday and also did some running, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Barring a setback, Seager is likely to be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Saturday. The veteran shortstop is sporting a .286/.345/.468 batting line with four home runs over his first 21 contests for the Rangers this season.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Battling hamstring injury

Seager was removed from Tuesday's game against the Athletics due to right hamstring tightness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning Newsreports. Texas was up 8-2 when Seager left the game, so it's possible the team's decision to pull him was simply precautionary, but the Rangers should provide some clarity sometime in the near future. If the 30-year-old ends up needing to miss time, Josh Smith would likely pick up some reps at shortstop.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Homers twice in win

Seager went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Cubs. Seager opened the scoring with a first-inning homer off Shota Imanaga before adding a second long ball off Nate Pearson in the seventh, extending the Rangers' lead to 6-1. Seager looks to be heating up at the plate -- he now has back-to-back two-hit games after going 5-for-31 (.161) with just one homer in his first nine contests this year.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Swats first homer of 2025

Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Rays. Seager pushed the Rangers ahead in the sixth with a solo shot to right for his first home run and first extra base hit of the year. The lefty slugger has just two hits over his last 16 at-bats and a .179 batting average in the early going.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Still managing calf issue

Seager is still dealing with some lingering calf soreness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Seager's calf issue first popped up late in spring training and he has been playing through nagging soreness. The 30-year-old has received two days off so far -- including Wednesday -- and Grant suspects Seager will continue to sit out day games after night games. Seager is just 3-for-17 with zero extra-base hits in the early going this season, and it's possible the calf has contributed to the slow start.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Getting breather Wednesday

Seager is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cincinnati. Seager is receiving a routine day off for Wednesday's afternoon contest. The Rangers are going with Josh Smith at shortstop and Ezequiel Duran at third base in the series finale.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Receiving Sunday off

Seager is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Seager went 3-for-12 with a run and three strikeouts over the first three games of the series, and he'll sit for Sunday's finale. Jonathan Ornelas, who was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Plays field Friday

Seager started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox. Seager was held out of the field and instead served as the designated hitter in Thursday's opener due to a recent calf issue. The Rangers exercised caution with the shortstop, whose calf injury was always considered minor.
