2025 NFL Draft Late Round Gems: Round 7 C Willie Lampkin (North Carolina)

Draft Scouting Report

Rating: 71.30 (Roster depth)
Pro Comparison: Aaron Brewer
Summary

Usually quality tape, combined with high-end athletic capabilities, makes for a first-round-caliber offensive line prospect. Most offensive line prospects, however, aren't 5-foot-11. Lampkin is going to present quite the dilemma for NFL evaluators because he's a true outlier in modern football. Despite that small stature, Lampkin's 6-foot-6 wingspan isn't all that out of place along the offensive line. And when he faced NFL-caliber defensive tackles on his schedule this past fall and at the Senior Bowl, Lampkin very much looked like he belonged. He'll have to switch positions to play center, but I'd bet on Lampkin getting the job done.

About
  • 2024: First-team All-American
  • 2024: ACC's Jacobs Blocking Trophy (conference's most outstanding blocker)
Strengths
  • Five-year starter in college who was playing good ball already as a true freshman for Coastal Carolina
  • Violent into hips on double teams. A real weapon in that regard
  • You don't want to get latched onto him at second level
  • Leverage demon. Locks in and runs feet
  • Long arms (32 inches) and big hands (10 ? inches) for height
  • Nimble as can be. Finds defenders in space so easily
  • Vice grips when he locks in
Weaknesses
  • Will be the shortest offensive lineman (5-foot-10 ? inches) in NFL and lightest (270 pounds)
  • Doesn't have the heft in his lower half to sit on bull-rushes
  • Not experienced at center (one year as starter) despite that being his only realistic position in NFL
