Draft Scouting Report
Luke Lachey is a tall, well-built tight end with solid receiving skills and route-running ability. He creates separation with subtle explosion at the top of his routes and effectively uses contact to gain space. His college production was limited by inconsistent quarterback play, but he shows strong YAC ability and uses his size and balance well after the catch. While his blocking needs improvement, particularly in lower-body power and grip strength, Lachey is a reliable receiver with solid hands and natural athleticism. He projects as a versatile tight end with strong potential in an NFL passing attack.

Texans' Luke Lachey: Nabbed by Texans in seventh round
The Texans selected Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 255th overall.
Lachey racked up 28 catches in two different seasons (2022 and 2024) at Iowa, adding 231 receiving yards last season. Sandwiched in the middle was a significant ankle injury in 2023 that cost him all but three games. He managed only 8.3 yards per reception in 2024 after averaging at least 13.1 yards per catch in each of the three years prior. Lachey doesn't possess elite speed to stretch the field but should be serviceable as a run blocker if called upon and will try to claim a 53-man roster spot in camp.
