Draft Scouting Report
Rating: 81.75 (Starter)
Pro Comparison: Jason Witten
Summary
Elijah Arroyo is a big-bodied tight end who does a good job creating separation and attacking zone coverage. He has good top-end speed, but has a high-waisted frame, which elongates his breaks. Arroyo can use more work as a blocker, particularly with hand placement to sustain blocks. He has soft, strong hands to make plays outside of his frame.
About
- 2024: Hit top speed of 21.8 miles per hour during a 74-yard catch-and-run touchdown vs. Georgia Tech. Only six NFL players recorded a higher max ball-carrier speed this past season
- Looking to become sixth first-round pick at tight end from Miami; would join Jeremy Shockey, Bubba Franks, Kellen Winslow Jr., Greg Olsen and David Njoku
Strengths
- 2.1% drop rate in 2024, per TruMedia
- Good job pressing the defender before making his cut to create separation
- Good understanding of leverage and finding soft spots in zone
- Good range
Weaknesses
- Missed significant time due to injuries in 2022 and 2023
- High waisted, so cuts can be loose
- Hand placement as a blocker
Combine Data
- Bench press: 22 reps
