Late Kick: RB Rocket Sanders is making noise in fall camp for South Carolina
Draft Scouting Report
Raheim Sanders is a tall, thickly built running back with feature-back size and solid speed for his frame. His vision stands out, processing blocks efficiently and excelling in one-cut situations. Though his speed builds over time, he isn’t sluggish at the hand-off but lacks the lateral agility for consistent success outside of a north-south style.
He runs with high energy, finishing plays with power rather than relying on contact balance. His quick deceleration adds some elusiveness, but his change of direction can feel labored. While he has pass-game experience, he’s not a refined route-runner, and his limited second-level burst prevents big-play potential.
Overall, Sanders is a physical, early-down back with a high floor but lacks the dynamic traits to be a true game-breaker.
- 2024: One of three national comeback players of the year
- 2021: SEC All-Freshman team
- Explosive runner with excellent top-end speed and a dynamic, upright running style
- Flashes vision and burst in space, making him dangerous on long runs
- Displays solid hands as a receiver, able to contribute in the passing game
- Lacks consistent wiggle in tight spaces and can struggle to break tackles
- Occasionally too upright in his running style, which exposes him to hits
- Needs to improve in short-yardage situations and between the tackles
- 40-yard dash: 4.46 seconds
- Vertical jump: 36.5 inches

Chargers' Raheim Sanders: Set to sign with Chargers
Sanders signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent.
Sanders started out at Arkansas as a wide receiver but moved to running back as a sophomore and quickly found his groove, piling up 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. His production cooled off during his senior season at South Carolina, where he posted 881 yards and 11 touchdowns on 183 carries (4.81 YPC) in addition to 27 receptions for 316 yards and two scores. Sanders joins a crowded backfield with no clear No. 3 option behind Najee Harris and first-round pick Omarion Hampton, providing a viable path to a roster spot in Los Angeles.
