The Cotton Bowl is the best stadium in college football
Draft Scouting Report
Billy Bowman Jr. is a small, shorter-limbed safety prospect with a classic slot CB build, but he spent most of his final college season playing as a traditional deep safety. His game is defined by high energy, elite twitch and constant movement, with minimal hesitation in his reactions. His burst, short-area quickness and speed are truly top-tier, allowing him to change directions instantly and sustain explosiveness.
A natural risk-taker, Bowman plays with reckless abandon and relentless hustle, constantly hunting for action. He’s rarely out of a play entirely, thanks to his ability to chase down runs and react to the football with urgency. However, his aggressive style comes with severe tackling issues -- he often overruns plays, approaches out of control and resorts to diving at ball-carriers instead of wrapping up. He lacks natural mirroring ability in man coverage but has the athleticism to stay sticky on quick slot WRs and generally finds himself in the right place at the catch point. His ball skills are good but not spectacular.
Bowman battles through blocks with effort, though he’s better off avoiding them due to his lack of play strength. His biggest limitation -- poor tackling technique and inconsistent angles -- will need work, but his elite athleticism, high motor and positional versatility make him an intriguing slot defender at the next level.
