Vanderbilt vs. Florida: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Vanderbilt vs. Florida football game
This Saturday, the Vanderbilt Commodores are hoping to patch up the holes in a defense that has allowed an average of 35.2 points per matchup. Vanderbilt and the Florida Gators will face off in an SEC battle at noon ET on Saturday at FirstBank Stadium. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
It was a close one, but last week the Commodores sidestepped the Kentucky Wildcats for a 24-21 win. Vanderbilt's QB Mike Wright was on fire, passing for one TD and 184 yards on 23 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 126 yards. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Wright's 59-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter.
Vanderbilt's defense was a presence as well, as it got past UK's offensive line to sack QB Will Levis four times for a total loss of 23 yards. It was a group effort with five guys contributing.
Meanwhile, Florida turned the game against the South Carolina Gamecocks into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 515 yards to 237. The Gators put the hurt on USC with a sharp 38-6 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Florida had established a 31-6 advantage. QB Anthony Richardson continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, passing for two TDs and 112 yards on 23 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 96 yards.
Vanderbilt is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn't have high expectations for them since the squad is 1-4 ATS when expected to lose.
Vanderbilt was pulverized by Florida 42 to nothing when the two teams previously met in October of last year. Maybe the Commodores will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the contest and check back on CBS Sports for all the details.
