UL Monroe vs. App. State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Louisiana-Monroe vs. Appalachian State football game
The App. State Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the UL Monroe Warhawks at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at JPS Field at James L. Malone Stadium. App. State is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
There was early excitement for App. State after they claimed the first score on Saturday, but it was Wyoming who ended up claiming the real prize. App. State fell just short of Wyoming by a score of 22-19.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 13 in total. All those points came courtesy of Michael Hughes: he added 12 points with four field goals, and another on an extra-point kick. His longest was a 50-yard strike in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 47-3, which was the final score in UL Monroe's tilt against Texas A&M last Saturday. UL Monroe was in a tough position after the first half, with the score sitting at 27-3.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Warhawks weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 95 passing yards. They were smoked by their opponents in that department as Texas A&M passed for 399.
The losses dropped App. State to 2-2 and UL Monroe to 3-1. Check back to see which team is able to work their way back into the win column.
Not only did both the two teams lose their last games, neither team covered either. Looking ahead, App. State shouldn't be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by 13.5 points. This will be their first time playing as the favorites on the road this season.
