Memphis has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the UAB Blazers at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Protective Stadium. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Memphis came up short against Tulane and fell 31-21.
Memphis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Seth Henigan, who threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns, and Demeer Blankumsee who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown. Roc Taylor also helped out as he racked up 108 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, UAB gave up the first points and the most points on Saturday. They suffered a grim 41-20 defeat to UTSA.
UAB's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jermaine Brown Jr., who picked up 116 receiving yards, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Memphis' loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for UAB, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5.
Not only did the two teams lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Going forward, Memphis is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by eight points. This contest will be UAB's sixth straight as the underdogs (so far over this stretch they are 3-2 against the spread).
