Syracuse vs. Georgia Tech updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Syracuse vs. Georgia Tech football game
Game Recap
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets might not have won anyway, but with 104 yards lost due to penalties, they really shot themselves in the foot on Saturday. The matchup between Georgia Tech and the Syracuse Orange was not particularly close, with the Yellow Jackets falling 37-20. Georgia Tech didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the 7.5-point advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
RB Sean Tucker had only a few touches last week, but he got the ball a lot more this time and made it count. Tucker was the offensive standout of the game for 'Cuse, rushing for two TDs and 112 yards on 24 carries. Syracuse's DB Ja'Had Carter got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the fourth quarter into a touchdown.
'Cuse defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected four interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
Despite the defeat, Georgia Tech got a solid performance out of RB Jahmyr Gibbs, who picked up 105 yards on the ground on 18 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD.
This is the second loss in a row for the Yellow Jackets and nudges their record down to 1-2. The Oranges win brought them up to an identical 1-2.
Georgia Tech can take some time to mend their wounds since their next contest isn't for a while. They will face the Louisville Cardinals at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field at 7 p.m. ET in two weeks. Georgia Tech and U of L are both 0-1 after wins this season, but that symmetry won't hold for long. 'Cuse will stay at home against the Duke Blue Devils at noon ET Oct. 10 at Carrier Dome.
