Pittsburgh vs. Louisville updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Pittsburgh vs. Louisville football game
Game Recap
The Pittsburgh Panthers won the last time they met up with the Louisville Cardinals, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. On Saturday, the Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past U of L 23-20. Having forecasted a close win for Pitt, the oddsmakers were right on the money.
No one had a standout game offensively for Pitt, but they got scores from WR Taysir Mack and WR Jordan Addison. Addison's longest catch was for 25 yards in the first quarter. Pitt also got a nice defensive effort from DL Patrick Jones II, who took down the quarterback three times.
Special teams collected 11 points for Pitt. K Alex Kessman booted in three field goals, the longest a 45-yarder in the first quarter, which ultimately accounted for the difference in the game.
Louisville's loss came about despite a quality game from RB Javian Hawkins, who punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 75-yard rush in the first quarter -- a was one of the highlights of the contest.
The victory for the Panthers kept them a perfect 3-0. This is the second loss in a row for the Cardinals and nudges their record down to 1-2.
Pitt will take on the NC State Wolfpack at noon ET next Saturday at home. Unlike Pitt, NC State will be stumbling in off of a defeat. U of L can take some time to mend their wounds since their next matchup isn't for a while. They will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field at 7 p.m. ET in two weeks. U of L and Georgia Tech are both 0-1 after wins this year, but that symmetry won't hold for long.
