Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Wednesday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech football game
The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Ole Miss Rebels will compete for holiday cheer in the Texas Bowl on Wednesday at NRG Stadium at 9 p.m. ET. The Red Raiders should still be riding high after a victory, while Ole Miss will be looking to get back in the win column.
Don't be fooled by the insanely high score: we promise Texas Tech and the Oklahoma Sooners were playing football. Texas Tech won 51-48 over Oklahoma in overtime. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 14 to nothing deficit. Texas Tech QB Tyler Shough was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 436 yards on 50 attempts in addition to picking up 44 yards on the ground. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Shough this season.
Special teams collected 13 points for Texas Tech. K Trey Wolff delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
As for the Rebels, it looks like they got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. It was a hard-fought matchup, but they had to settle for a 24-22 defeat against the Mississippi State Bulldogs four weeks ago. The contest was as close as the oddsmakers predicted, but Ole Miss had been the slight favorite coming in. No one had a standout game offensively for Ole Miss, but they got scores from WR Dayton Wade and DT J.J. Pegues.
A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Texas Tech ranks 12th in the nation when it comes to passing yards per game, with 307 on average. Ole Miss has displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they come into the game boasting the third most rushing yards per game in the nation at 261.3.
